Dearbhla Walsh -  Official Opening of the 80th year

Friday 3rd March 2023 8.00pm, St. Brigid's Hall Theatre, Tubbercurry.

Dearbhla Walsh is an Emmy, IFTA and BAFTA award-winning director. In 2009, Walsh won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing for the BBC adaptation of Charles Dickens’ Little Dorrit, starring Claire Foy.

She also directed a feature adaptation of Roald Dahl’s Esio Trot for the BBC, starring Dustin Hoffman and Judi Dench.  Other TV director credits include  The Handmaid’s Tale, Fargo,  Tales from the Loop, Penny Dreadful, The Tudors and Marvel’s The Punisher, along with Shameless for Channel 4,  Traitors for Channel 4 and Netflix and The Silence for BBC .

Since COVID she has directed and executive produced two projects from the pen of  SHARON HORGAN - the comedy horror SHINING VALE for STARZ TV starring Courteney Cox, Greg Kinnear and Miro Sorvino and the Irish drama comedy BAD SISTERS for APPLE TV+  starring Sharon Horgan, Eve Hewson, Anne Marie Duff, Sarah Greene  and Eva Birthistle .

She is currently editing a new drama  comedy series SUNNY for APPLE TV set in the near future in JAPAN starring Rashida Jones and Hidétoshi Nishijima.

And NO she still can’t speak Japanese, but YES she does still swim regularly at The Forty Foot!
